I’m a HUGE Sweeney Todd fan (seen six separate productions, eight if you count the two videos), and I was lucky enough to get into the L Magazine’s screening of the movie last Thursday. I was prepared to be disappointed, being the rabid nitpicky Sondheim fan that I am, but the movie is really something special. JD takes the character in a direction I’ve never seen before. I am a huge musical nerd and am waiting for the Spring to see the Chicago performance of Sweeney Todd. I have been a huge Tim Burton fan since I’ve been a child and love all his work, along with the amazing actor Johnny Depp. Their collaborations have never let me down, so I know that this will be a treat above the rest! From the moment I heard of it’s production I’ve been overly excited, and I cannot wait. I’ve been counting down the days and now that it’s almost here, I cant believe it!
