So according to the rules if you have over 100 people but aren’t one of the top two you don’t get a prize?Maybe I’m reading it wrong. I’ll be so sad if I’m right.

hey all!! so I know that I’m crazy excited for Sweeney Todd the movie! (yeah, I’m gonna see it at midnight). whether you love the musical or the actors… (or both, like me!!!) you should join my group! It’ll be crazy awesome!!

This is a blog for those who have done the show are extatic about the movie and I want to know a funny story about your particular production….We had a night where the furniture fell apart Sweeney carried Mrs. Lovett off stage to get married!  (guess what song that occured in?)

So to start this blog off I thought I’d tell you a bit about myself and my love of Sweeney Todd and musicals in general.

I’ve been watching or listening to some sort of musical since I was tiny. Probably about the age of 2. But my real love of musicals started when I was about 8 and saw Les Miserables for the first time. Shortly thereafter, I found Phantom and several others.

It was late junior high or early high school that I first found Sweeney Todd–can’t remember which. It was an instant love for me. I love darker things, and dark comedy rates high on my list. Sweeney Todd is and will always be a favorite–I’ll even have costumes done for the premiere, if all goes well. ^^

I’m a HUGE Sweeney Todd fan (seen six separate productions, eight if you count the two videos), and I was lucky enough to get into the L Magazine’s screening of the movie last Thursday. I was prepared to be disappointed, being the rabid nitpicky Sondheim fan that I am, but the movie is really something special. JD takes the character in a direction I’ve never seen before. I’m rather glad, considering that one of the last times I tried to watch “Sweeney Todd” my sweet, gore-hating grandmother tried to watch it with me. She figured that Angela Lansbury being in the musical meant it wouldn’t be too bad.

 Angela Lansbury was playing Mrs. Lovett.

Try as I might to warn her that the musical was about a serial killer barber, my grandmother was convinced it couldn’t be that bad.

To this day my grandmother questions why I like such a “bad” musical. I suppose I shouldn’t tell her I want to see it on midnight the night it comes out.

The Moment we’ve all been waiting for is almost here!
