I’m rather glad, considering that one of the last times I tried to watch “Sweeney Todd” my sweet, gore-hating grandmother tried to watch it with me. She figured that Angela Lansbury being in the musical meant it wouldn’t be too bad.
Angela Lansbury was playing Mrs. Lovett.
Try as I might to warn her that the musical was about a serial killer barber, my grandmother was convinced it couldn’t be that bad.
To this day my grandmother questions why I like such a “bad” musical. I suppose I shouldn’t tell her I want to see it on midnight the night it comes out.
