Anxiously Awaiting the Arrival of Sweeney Todd!
December 19th, 2007

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty psyched about this. Obviously if you’re a member of this blog, you too are excited. But what about the poor people trapped in the rural locations of the country who cannot get to NYC or other large metropolis to view this flick this weekend? Well, that’s where this blog comes in..

I myself have had years of experience and patience when it comes to the release of Tim Burton and/or Johhny Depp flicks. But when it comes to the two of them together in a debut, my patience tends to run a bit thin. So that’s why I will be begging people to join my blog so that we can have our own, private screening of Sweeney Todd, or at least get some awesome movie memorabelia to add to my collection in my “movie/family room”. What’s down there? Well, I have a bunch of “Pirates” stuff, including what many consider to be a shrine to Johnny Depp and/or Pirates of the Caribbean. I have one wall dedicated to JD, including posters from some of my personal, favorite works from the master actor: “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” movie poster, varying Pirates stuff, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” poster, clock and etceteras, and my personal favorite: An autographed pic of Mr Depp, signed at the Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles, April 1, 2005. I also have a bunch of Tim Burton stuff. Another wall is Sci-fi, as hubby needs something to gaze upon during commercials throughout football season. Rat Pack pics, the “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” gianormous poster, and a small selection of the greatest mafia flicks, as I believe I was Italian in a previous life. I also have a wall of “My Stars”, which are pics of my family, like my daughter’s dance portraits and fun stuff like that.

I plan on stenciling down there at one point….across the top of the walls….one of my favorite lines from a song…ever…”Everybody’s a dreamer, Everybody’s a star, Everybody’s in showbiz, it doesn’t matter who you are. But those who are successful, Be always on your guard, Success walks hand in hand with failure, Along Hollywood Boulevard”… quote from “Celluloid Heroes” from the Kinks. I think it’s very fitting, don’t you?

So what else does this nearly-40-year-old mom do? Well, I’m a freelance writer and I work “Part-time” at a local supermarket for social time and exercise, as the money is very close to a joke. My daughter, Nikki, will be 13 in March, and my son, Brett, will be 10 next month. Hubby Dennis works on a blog with me…www.learnsomethingnewtoday.us, and is the “evening operations manager” at the supermarket for which I work part-time. I work the opposite shift that he does so that I can be home with the kids after school. I also babysit a bunch of great kids, and they add a bit of excitement to my typical, humdrum day.

So I feel that I am Spartacus, leading a mission to get a movie showing closer to my town before the end of time….

To all fans of JD and TB, I am thrilled to be a part of this along your side…but I’m going to win….
